West Ham door opens to land Santiago Gimenez as financial blow emerges elsewhere
West Ham could now swoop for AC Milan striker Santiago Gimenez.
Gimenez has emerged as a target for West Ham as Nuno Espirito Santo looks to add a much-needed forward to his squad in January.
The Hammers have been forced to start with Callum Wilson in recent weeks, with Jarrod Bowen also starting but struggling for West Ham.
Niclas Fullkrug looks destined to leave West Ham, something which would undoubtedly leave a hole in the squad at the London Stadium.
Various targets have been linked to the claret and blue outfit, but it finally seems as if Gimenez could now be the go-to man in East London.
West Ham won’t sign Ivan Toney in January
West Ham have shown interest in Gimenez, but he is far from the only attacking target being assessed in E20 ahead of the winter window.
Ivan Toney has also been named as an option for the Hammers, as a return to the Premier League was seemingly on the cards.
The Englishman appeared to be up for a move back to his homeland with a spot in the 2026 World Cup squad up for grabs under Thomas Tuchel.
West Ham are seemingly unlikely to bring in the former Brentford man as his time in the Saudi Pro League looks set to continue.

The Middle East outfit are working under strict financial rules that will prevent further spending, so not even a loan deal would be beneficial to them.
Although this may be seen as a blow to the Irons right now, it could open the door to make a swoop elsewhere.
West Ham can get run at Santiago Gimenez signing
The 24-year-old may be seen as many as an unknown quantity, but that could be just what the East London club need right now.
Gimenez has struggled for regular minutes and form at San Siro, but has proven that he knows where the net is.
The Mexican netted 65 goals across 105 games for Feyenoord, so there is good reason why Milan made a swoop for him in January.
The Hammers could give him an ideal exit route out of Italy, with him seemingly now the best option in claret and blue, with Toney seemingly off the table.
