West Ham do background work on Jhon Duran transfer, Dharmesh Sheth shares what he’s told

West Ham United are still in the running to sign Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran, despite the recent cooling of speculation, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

Duran, who scored five goals in limited appearances last season, has attracted interest from several top clubs, including West Ham and Chelsea.

Although Duran was linked with a move to Chelsea in June [HITC, July 17], few concrete developments have emerged since with the Hammers now working on a deal in the background for the £40million-rated player.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Sheth said: “There’s been lots of reports about so many of the players that they’re [West Ham] looking at.

“Jhon Duran is one that they’ve looked at. It’s gone cool at the moment, but it’s still there, I’m told, in the background. I’m told don’t rule this one out at all.”

Jhon Duran to West Ham is still possible

The possibility of Duran joining the Hammers is still on the table. Despite the back and forth in the transfer market, it’s clear both Duran and Aston Villa are open to a move this summer.

Duran wants to leave, and Villa seem ready to listen to offers, especially if they include significant add-ons. However, the current asking price of £40million is higher than what clubs like the Hammers and Chelsea are willing to pay.

Reports indicate that personal terms between Duran and West Ham might already be agreed upon [Fabrizio Romano, July 9], with an offer of £35million plus a sell-on clause rumoured to be on the table.

This deal makes sense for West Ham, as they are actively looking for a new striker to boost their squad. Duran, with his potential and ability to develop into a top striker, fits this need perfectly.

While the negotiations might drag on through the summer, Duran’s move to East London is far from off the table.

Villa may hold out for their valuation, but if the player remains committed and the clubs find common ground, this transfer could very well happen.
