West Ham already have the transfer blueprint to solve lingering Nuno Espirito Santo headache
West Ham United are still getting their transfer ducks in a row this summer.
Relegation from the Premier League has led to a pretty chaotic start to the window.
The Hammers have already sold Mateus Fernandes to Tottenham in an £85million deal, with Manchester United also having been interested.
The Red Devils are also said to have held explatory talks with West Ham over the signing of Crysencio Summerville, who has plenty of interest in the window.
Captain Jarrod Bowen and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have also been linked with moves, though they will be desperate at least to keep the former.
There is one player Nuno Espirito Santo would shed no tears over if they left, though, as Jean-Clair Todibo has now attracted interest back in France.
West Ham can solve one problem immediately
Relegation from the Premier League meant that departures were inevitable.
There are some who Irons supporters will be desperate to see leave more than others, and Todibo will be among those.
Todibo is reportedly attracting interest from Marseille, who view him as the ideal profile for a "big move" this summer.
The 26-year-old arrived from Nice, initially on loan a couple of years ago, but he has fallen out with Nuno and it is extrememly diffcult to imagine he ever pulls on a West Ham shirt again.
So, his situation does cause somewhat of a headache, because they badly need him off the books.
But West Ham already have a blueprint to follow if Marseille look to follow up their interest this summer.
West Ham have previous with Marseille
The good news for West Ham is they have previous with Marseille as recently as only 12 months ago.
The ambitious Ligue 1 club did two rounds of business last summer, one of which was the signing of Nayef Aguerd for a fee in the region of £19.6million.
Marseille also signed Emerson Palmieri, for a significantly smaller fee, after he fell down the pecking order at the London Stadium.
You would hope those experiences might prove useful if Marseille push ahead with a move to sign Todibo.
Once upon time, the West Ham hierarchy would not have been only fond of their French counterparts, who prised away Dmitri Payet.
But there is a really good opportunity to use links forged 12 months ago and solve a lingering transfer headache for Nuno.
It is a situation that would prove beneficial for all parties in truth.
