West Ham advance talks to beat Leeds to new striker transfer after Pablo agreement

West Ham United are in the market for attacking reinforcements in January.

Nuno Espirito Santo made a desperate plea to David Sullivan for new signings this month, and only one day in, he appears to be delivering at the London Stadium.

West Ham have agreed a deal with Gil Vicente for Pablo, with the striker set to undergo a medical with the hope of featuring against Wolves on Saturday.

With a Premier League relegation fight on the cards, though, more is needed.

Taty Castellanos next at the London Stadium?

West Ham have now switched their attention to Taty Castellanos.

ExWHUemployee has reported via the West Ham Way that talks are already advancing with Lazio for the Argentina international.

Castellanos could be available for a reasonable price with the Serie A side currently facing financial issues.

Ex has also shared that Leeds’ interest could prompt the Hammers to conclude a deal quickly for the striker at the start of January.

Taty Castellanos by the numbers – Is he worth it?

Based on this season alone, West Ham fans would likely exercise caution with Castellanos.

With only two goals in 12 appearances, many would want someone with more impressive numbers to stage a relegation fight under Nuno.

That doesn’t tell the whole story, though.

However, looking at the 2024/25 season in Serie A, you get instantly excited.

Castellanos managed 14 goals and eight assists for Lazio in all competitions, with the Argentine star flying in the Europa League, as well as domestically.

The striker has suffered a hamstring injury, which kept him out of action for six games already this season, and was missing from the latest Lazio squad on Saturday.

Pablo has also had injury issues this season, and everyone knows about Callum Wilson’s history, but with a bit of luck and consistency, anyone can shine, just look at Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Fingers crossed these quick signings can propel West Ham to safety, starting against Wolves at Molineux on Saturday afternoon.
