Niclas Fullkrug's West Ham exit for the 2026-2027 season is underway.

The German striker looks set to sign for Bundesliga side Werder Bremen on loan, with Fullkrug making compromises to allow the move.

Fullkrug is waiving his salary in order for the move to be completed, in what would be his third spell with the club where he broke through as a professional player.

West Ham fans will be eager to see him depart, although this move is only a loan deal.

Nonetheless, the wages off the books will be a financial burden lifted for the Irons.

And it may be a matter of time before it is confirmed with the 33-year-old spotted in Germany ahead of his medical.

Niclas Fullkrug makes his next move as West Ham exit nears

It is an exit that has been coming, but Fullkrug is in the final stages of leaving West Ham, at least for this season.

The German was not included in Nuno Espirito Santo's squad to face Burnley over the weekend.

Journalist Florian Plettenberg, who works for Sky Sports, has now shared a video of Fullkrug arriving in Bremen ahead of his proposed move.

The striker is set to undergo his medical, with the German being drove in by a white BMW car.

As shared, the move is simply just a loan with Werder Bremen having no option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season.

The Hammers have Fullkrug contracted until June 2028, so they will at least be able to recoup some cash next summer instead.

Once the medical is complete, and the results come with a positive outcome, it may not be long before the loan is made official.

What West Ham will hope from Fullkrug loan

With Fullkrug heading back to familiar surroundings and a club where he has had success before, the Irons will be cheering him on.

With Werder Bremen, Fullkrug has scored 49 goals and picked up 16 assists in 124 appearances over the course of his previous two spells.

If he can refind his form, after a poor loan with AC Milan, there may be more buyers for his signature in a year's time.

However, with him turning 34 in February and having one year left on his contract when he returns, the figures involved in a possible permanent deal may not be that high.
