Niclas Fullkrug is set to leave his West Ham United nightmare behind him for yet another season.

The German was signed by Tim Steidten, with his exit from the London Stadium soon after summing it up.

West Ham spent big money on Fullkrug for Graham Potter, but Nuno Espirito Santo simply wasn't a fan.

Despite arriving as a German international, he simply never delivered.

It led to West Ham being relegated to the Championship, as just one of several transfer mistakes made.

Now, he's finally set to move on two weeks ahead of the deadline.

What is latest on Niclas Fullkrug exit?

Fullkrug is heading back to Werder Bremen, somewhat of a fairytale return for him.

West Ham won't care where he goes for now, although it's simply a loan with no option at this stage.

BILD has reported in its print edition that Fullkrug will lower his salary, likely meaning that the Irons will have to cover some of it.

The German newspaper describes the transfer as "lightning", given a medical is booked for Tuesday after talks only 24 hours prior.

From being excluded from training at Rush Green, to failing at AC Milan, this is a move years in the making.

Fullkrug also saw a move to Venezia collapse, and returning to your boyhood youth club is usually a sign of things coming to an end.

What next for West Ham?

Thankfully, this one has been done quickly after initial negotiations started yet again.

Fullkrug has been in this position several times over the summer, so West Ham and the striker will be equally as happy now.

For Nuno, he wanted another striker before the German was leaving.

Joel Piroe is set for his medical before signing for West Ham on Tuesday, so that's one box ticked at the London Stadium.

But, given Pablo has also picked up an injury, that leaves only Taty Castellanos alongside the new signing.

Another new face is likely needed, so let's hope that Fullkrug's exit can open the door for that to happen very soon.
