Walker-Peters to West Ham transfer ‘roadblock’ emerges amid last-minute snag
West Ham are reportedly keen on securing the services of former Tottenham defender Kyle Walker-Peters.
With Vladimir Coufal leaving, Graham Potter is keen to sign another right-back capable of offering competition and cover to Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Walker-Peters, to his credit, is also capable of playing as a left-back, offering much-needed versatility.

Walker-Peters’ medical appears to be pushed by a day
The England international appeared set to undergo his West Ham medical on Friday, 18 July, ahead of a potential move.
However, it now seems that it is unlikely to go ahead, but instead will take place a day later.
Club | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
---|---|---|---|
Southampton | 202 | 7 | 12 |
Tottenham U23 | 48 | 2 | 3 |
Tottenham | 24 | 1 | 5 |
Tottenham YL | 6 | 0 | 0 |
Spurs U18 | 4 | 1 | 0 |
The Daily Mail’s football reporter James Sharpe claims that the medical will happen on Saturday and he will put pen to paper on a three-year deal at the London Stadium.
The reason for the snag has not been revealed and it remains to be seen if there is still a roadblock in the deal.
With El Hadji Malick Diouf joining, Walker-Peters will become their second signing of the summer.
West Ham are making a shrewd move by signing Walker-Peters
Walker-Peters’ arrival at West Ham is a significant coup, bolstering their defence with Premier League-proven quality.
The 28-year-old, versatile full-back, who can play on either flank, brings 148 top-flight appearances from Tottenham and Southampton, offering experience and reliability.
His free transfer, following a collapsed Besiktas move, is a cost-effective addition, filling the void left by departing defenders Coufal and Aaron Cresswell.
Under Graham Potter’s wing-back system, the English full-back’s attacking flair and defensive solidity align perfectly.
His two England caps and ability to contribute at both ends of the pitch make him a smart, low-risk signing, poised to elevate the London Stadium outfit’s ambitions for a stronger league finish and potentially push for European qualification.
