Vladimir Coufal call made at West Ham United as fresh transfer news emerges

Vladimir Coufal’s future at West Ham United may have been decided as his contract at the London Stadium is edging closer to expiry.

The defender has been a stalwart for the Hammers over the last few seasons with the Czechia international often being used as a first-choice right-back until the arrival of Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the summer.

There have often been times when the defender has put in impressive performances this term but that doesn’t mean there haven’t also been a couple of disappointing moments along the way.

West Ham have had it rough this season and even though Graham Potter may have got things somewhat back on track over the last couple of weeks, questions are still being asked about the futures of some of his players, such as Coufal.

Coufal to leave West Ham United in the summer

If a new report from Czech outlet inFotbal.cz (5 March) is to be believed, Coufal could already have one foot out of the exit door ahead of the summer transfer window.

While the report goes on to say that “all options are still open” the right-back is now more likely to exit the London Stadium than stay put.

Which, with the form Wan-Bissaka has found himself in since making the move from Manchester United, makes a lot of sense.

Coufal has multiple options on the table away from West Ham

The future of the defender has been discussed since the moment that the Englishman stepped onto the pitch for the Hammers.

The East London outfit lost Ben Johnson on a free transfer in the last summer window and at the moment, things seem to be heading that way for Coufal as well.

A fair few clubs have been mooted with an interest in the veteran defender with Fulham among the most heavily linked with a move.

The Premier League table as it stands.

While there have been times this season when Coufal hasn’t been at his best, there has been the odd glimmer of brilliance here and there which shows there’s still a more than solid Premier League player within him.

And, the fact that Potter has chosen to start him on multiple occasions this season also plays in his favour.

At the moment, it’s anyone’s guess where he could end up but, as he’s now entering the twilight years of his career, he’ll no doubt want to go out with a bang, with his retirement likely to be on the cards in the next couple of seasons.
