Tottenham make West Ham star Jarrod Bowen ‘Priority’ target, deal to accelerate after Euro 2024
Tottenham have made West Ham star Jarrod Bowen their “priority” transfer target for the summer, according to Sebastien Vidal.
Writing on his personal X account (25 June), the journalist reports that a deal between the clubs is expected to “accelerate” after Euro 2024.
The Hammers don’t want to sell after tying the England international down to a new long-term deal earlier this year, but a deal could be agreed for a “nice cheque”.
West Ham United to sell Jarrod Bowen to Tottenham?
The club are going to have to make some tough decisions in the transfer window this summer, but this is one of the easiest decisions they’ll have to make.
Bowen is the club’s star man despite having the likes of Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus as part of the team, and his importance was underlined last year when he was handed a new contract that runs until 2030 with no release clause [The Athletic].
Clearly there will be interest after he hit 20 goals in all competitions and broke into the England squad for the European Championships, but Tottenham is a team that the board simply can’t do business with for a player like him.
Not only are they rivals and a team the fans can’t stand, but they’re also in the position that the Hammers want to get to and selling them one of our best players would only make that gap increase. The same can be said about Newcastle [Telegraph, 23 May] and Chelsea [Simon Phillips, 25 April] who are also interested.
Unless Spurs can offer something beyond the £100million mark then it’s not something that should even be considered at the London Stadium, and if it is there will surely be riots.
In other West Ham news, a clause has emerged as the Irons want to sign a double-winning attacker.
