Torino want to sign Nikola Vlasic for £6.9m despite £11.2m agreement with West Ham United

Nikola Vlasic is set to put pressure on West Ham to accept a discounted offer from Torino for him to join them permanently, according to TuttoSport (26 May).

The Croatian international has spent the season on loan at the Serie A club, and Torino hold an option to make the deal permanent for €13m (£11.2m) at the end of the season.

But the club are not willing to pay that much to keep him after his performances this season and are only willing to pay around €8m (£6.9m), something that Vlasic wants the Hammers to accept because he isn’t part of their plans going forward.

Vlasic is now willing to put pressure on West Ham to accept a discounted deal so he can stay in Italy, although for now the Hammers are sticking to their initially agreed price.

Let him go

West Ham blew a wad of cash on signing Vlasic two years ago and up until this very day nobody is really sure as to why.

He struggled massively in a claret and blue shirt and never looked remotely close to being worth the £30m+ that we paid for him, and a loan was the best we could hope for last year.

Now that there are interested parties in his signature, it’s a chance to get him off the books and bring in some cash to help bolster the squad elsewhere.

We already don’t need to directly replace him as he’s not part of the squad and we’ve been fine without him this season, so it should just be seen as extra money to play with during the summer window.

Obviously we can’t be taken for mugs in negotiations, but for the sake of a few million pounds it’s not worth potentially being lumbered with a player who has no interest in being here and we have no interest in having around.
