Tomas Soucek in talks with Champions League club as answer given on West Ham exit

Tomas Soucek continues to be linked with a West Ham exit amid the club’s Premier League struggles.

Soucek joined West Ham for £17million in July 2020, after a successful loan stint, and since then he has proven to be one of David Sullivan’s best transfers.

The Czechia international played a big role in West Ham winning the Europa Conference League in 2023, with his goals and physical presence proving a real threat.

Although midfielder Soucek has scored 44 goals and added 13 assists in 266 appearances for West Ham, his influence has waned over time, as teams exploit their lack of midfield mobility.

Soucek was linked with a move to David Moyes’ Everton last year, while other reports suggest West Ham may try and extend Soucek’s contract at London Stadium.

Now, more rumours are swirling around Soucek.

Tomas Soucek stance clear amid Galatasaray interest

Back in 2023, Soucek rejected a move to the Saudi Pro League, saying it was “not his cup of coffee”.

The 30-year-old, who also said he had no interest in a move to China or Major League Soccer, has more recently been linked with a Turkey transfer.

According to Czech publication inFotbal.cz, Galatasaray have held ‘informal talks’ with West Ham over a Soucek deal.

Reports in Turkey suggest Besiktas are also interested but it is said that Soucek, who has scored two goals in 19 Premier League games this season, is not considering a move to the Super Lig.

The report adds that a transfer to Everton one day doesn’t sound so ‘unrealistic’ as he enters the last 18 months of his contract, with Soucek keen to stay in the Premier League.

But if West Ham get relegated this season, with the Hammers five points behind 17th-placed Nottingham Forest, a Moyes-Soucek reunion could be on the cards.

Soucek to head back to Czech league?

Soucek made a name for himself in the Czech First League, a division he won on two occasions with Slavia Prague in 2017 and 2019.

The 6ft 4in midfielder was fairly prolific at Slavia, scoring 30 goals in his last two seasons at the club.

And he has, largely, continued that at West Ham. While many Hammers fans are currently fuming at many of his teammate’s performances, in addition to feeling mutinous against the club’s owners, Soucek is still a fan favourite.

Tomas Soucek’s Premier League goalsGoals to games
2025-26 seasonTwo goals in 19 games
2024-25 seasonNine goals in 35 games
2023-24 seasonSeven goals in 37 games
2022-23 seasonTwo goals in 36 games
2021-22 seasonFive goals in 35 games
2020-21 season10 goals in 38 games
2019-20 seasonThree goals in 13 games

If West Ham go down, Soucek is unlikely to stay. Perhaps Moyes’ Everton will come calling again. But one day, a Czech return seems likely.

He said in 2023: “A lot of people told me that they were tapping their heads, that they were asking why. But it’s not for me.

Neither America nor China. I’d rather go back to the Czech league, where I would live with my family and friends. And if it was Slavia that raised me, it would be a plus.”
