Todibo shares telling West Ham United comment amid bombshell exit news

West Ham United face a critical summer if they are to distance themselves from the bottom of the Premier League next season.

The Hammers have struggled to find form under Graham Potter, who replaced Julen Lopetegui in January.

Several players have been linked with the exit door at the London Stadium, including centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo.

Todibo addresses West Ham future

West Ham were poised to sell Todibo this summer according to a bombshell recent update, even though he is yet to complete a permanent move to East London.

The Frenchman joined the Irons on a season-long loan last summer, with an obligation to make the move permanent for £36.3million.

However, it appears that the 25-year-old will be staying at the London Stadium after a post he shared on social media.

On the defender’s Instagram page (19 May), he shared a photograph of himself smiling in the claret and blue with a message (19 May) alongside it.

He said: “Final home game of the season. Huge thanks to the fans — see you next season,” followed by hammers and bubbles emojis.

While his future may have been up in the air, Todibo’s post suggests that he fully expects to be playing for the London club again next campaign.

Todibo to stay despite defensive overhaul

Defensively, West Ham have been abysmal this season.

As it stands, they have the joint fifth-worst defence in the Premier League, having conceded 61 goals so far this term.

The Hammers’ player of the season, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, has been a rare gem in Potter’s backline that has otherwise faltered.

Aaron Creswell and Vladimir Coufal will depart the London Stadium, and it would be unsurprising if there were more departures.

Todibo, however, looks set to be a part of that squad, but will face a fight to start in the hub of West Ham’s defence.

The Frenchman has made 26 league appearances, with Max Kilman his most consistent partner at centre-back.

Potter is going to have to add full-backs to bulk out his squad and could make additions at centre-back.

If he does, then Todibo will need to up his game if he is to be given a starting berth next season.
