Tochukwu Nnadi wants West Ham transfer as five-year contract prepared

West Ham are said to be closing in on the signing of Tochukwu Nnadi.

West Ham’s transfer strategy so far this winter has been clear, but perhaps surprising.

Despite the fact that the Irons have the worst defensive record in the Premier League, all three of their new arrivals have been attacking players, with the signing of Keiber Lamadrid officially announced this week.

Now, the Hammers have turned their attention to reinforcing their midfield options, with a move for Nnadi believed to be advancing nicely.

West Ham set to advance Tochukwu Nnadi transfer talks

A report from Sportsboom claims that the Hammers have already held talks with Nnadi while the midfielder was away on AFCON duty with Nigeria.

Those talks are said to have been productive, with the midfielder having expressed an interest in making the move to the London Stadium, with a five-year contract prepared.

A full agreement has yet to be reached, but when that comes, which may only be a matter of time, the Hammers are expected to advance in talks and negotiate a final transfer fee for his move.

Nnadi was part of the Nigeria squad that suffered defeat against the host nation, Morocco in the AFCON semi-final, albeit playing just 14 minutes in the competition.

Now back at Zulte Waregem in Belgium, talks will be able to progress signficantly quicker, and if West Ham are to seal his arrival before 2 February, they will need to.

Who is Tochukwu Nnadi, and what would he bring to West Ham?

Despite only being 22 years old, Nnadi is already a name that is well-known in Belgian football, having played for Zulte Waregem since 2024.

Typically played as a defensive midfielder, the Nigerian is full of energy, and that is backed up by his defensive stats in the league this season.

Nnadi has won 33 tackles and won 81 per cent of his aerial duels, despite very rarely being the tallest player on the pitch, with his general protection of the defence behind him also impressive.

Given his age, he still has plenty of room for development, which is something that West Ham have lacked over the last few years.

He would be a dynamic option for the Hammers and one who could be developed into a future star.
