Tim Steidten jets out of UK to find West Ham United agreement with Ajax for Mohammed Kudus

Tim Steidten is due to fly to Amsterdam today to try and find an agreement with Ajax for West Ham to sign Mohammed Kudus, reports Santi Aouna.

Writing on his personal Twitter account (17 August), the FootMercato journalist reports that the director of football will fly to Amsterdam today and have a meeting with the Dutch giants about a deal.

The Hammers are keen on Kudus as a potential replacement for Lucas Paqueta, who is an £85m target for Manchester City.

“Tim Steidten, the sportive director of West Ham, is going to Amsterdam today to meet Ajax Amsterdam for Mohammed Kudus,” he wrote.

“The Hammers want to find an agreement with Ajax.”

Huge

The last time Steidten went to Amsterdam to sort out a transfer for West Ham, he came back with a Declan Rice replacement and a fantastic financial deal.

Edson Alvarez will know Kudus well from their time together at Ajax and he will be able to speak well about the way negotiations went as we worked quickly, and our relationship with the club is likely to be positive because of that too.

West Ham

A move to Brighton has fallen through for Kudus as he wanted a release clause, so it will be interesting to see if he wants similar here but clearly the club are open to it considering the Paqueta news recently.

But to get a deal over the line with the player we need to know we can do a deal with the club, and Steidten has proven himself capable of doing that in person.

This is an exciting transfer if we can get it done, and this is a chance for Steidten to prove his worth in his new role once again with the club planning well for the future just in case Paqueta does go.
