Tim Sherwood urges West Ham United to sign ‘remarkable’ Ivan Toney as David Moyes would love him
Tim Sherwood has urged West Ham to sign Brentford forward Ivan Toney live on air as he would suit David Moyes’ style of play.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday on 23 September (01:25pm), the pundit said the England international would be the ideal fit for the Hammers as he believes Michael Antonio might not be at the club for much longer.
He added that the 27-year-old, whose current manager Thomas Frank referred to as “remarkable” earlier this year, would be a “David Moyes player”.

“I think he’s a West Ham player,” said Sherwood.
“I think he’s a David Moyes player. Antonio possibly might not be there too long.”

This is a really interesting one as you would think Toney really fits the bill of the kind of striker West Ham would be looking to bring in.
With his presence in the air and ability on the floor, Sherwood is right that he would be the perfect player under Moyes at the London Stadium.
Although he’s currently unavailable because of his eight-month ban for breaching the FA’s rules on gambling, he will be back in January when the transfer window opens up again.

The Irons have been looking for a new forward over the past few years, but any deal they have made hasn’t come off, with the big-money signings Sebastian Haller and Gianluca Scamacca failing to live up to expectations.
But the key difference with Toney is that he has proven over the past couple of seasons that he can hack it in the Premier League after a number of impressive performances for Brentford.
He would still command a large transfer fee, potentially as much as £50million, but with his noted quality, he could definitely be worth us making a move for at some point.
In other West Ham news, the club have received a multi-million financial windfall without kicking a ball.
