Konstantinos Mavropanos has been in fine form for West Ham United this season.

The Greece international has been an important contributor at both ends of the pitch for the Hammers.

The 28-year-old has been a standout for Nuno Espirito Santo's side in defence in the Championship.

But he has also contributed four league goals in seven league outings, including a dramatic equaliser in the comeback 2-2 draw at rivals Millwall before the international break.

Indeed, it is now being suggested that West Ham could have their resolve tested again for Mavropanos - who has played 610 league minutes this term - in the winter transfer window.

However, the Irons seemingly are in a strong position when it comes to any potential interest in the former Arsenal defender.

What's West Ham's transfer stance on Konstantinos Mavropanos?

It was a difficult summer transfer window for West Ham to negoiate following relegation from the Premier League.

Several top players departed the London Stadium, including Crysencio Summerville, Mateus Fernandes, and El Hadji Malick Diouf.

Mavropanos had his suitors too, with Leeds United, Coventry City, and Borussia Dortmund all listed as interested parties.

Indeed, a fresh report from Claret & Hugh suggests that there is expected to be interest in Mavropanos again this winter.

However, it is said that West Ham, who reportedly value him around £30-35million, are under no pressure to sell.

And there is one particularly important factor that could prove crucial for West Ham in their attempt to stave off suitors.

What will count in West Ham's favour over Mavropanos?

Claret & Hugh's report further adds that a source close to West Ham says the club are open to discussing a new deal for Mavropanos if they achieve promotion.

Crucially, they cite a source who has shared West Ham hold an "option to extend" Mavropanos' deal, which is described as an ace up the Hammers' sleeve.

Mavropanos' current deal runs out in the summer of 2028, but West Ham's position appears pretty strong.

Nuno clearly views Mavropanos as integral to his squad, and you sense he will be a big player if West Ham are to continue challenging for promotion back to the top flight.
