Taty Castellanos says goodbye to Lazio as he empties out locker as West Ham transfer details emerge

West Ham look set to confirm the arrival of Taty Castellanos from Lazio.

West Ham’s relegation fears have been prudent all season, and it created a huge sense of expectation that the Hammers would invest in January.

With the pending arrival of Pablo and a bid launched for Castellanos, it became apparent that West Ham were going to do all it takes to try and avoid the drop.

Now, the arrival of the latter seems to be edging closer with the latest update from Italy.

Taty Castellanos has already said his goodbyes

Castellanos scored 14 goals in all competitions for Lazio last season, but his form has dropped massively in the current campaign with just two goals in 12 appearances.

As a result, the Serie A side became open to the idea of the Argentine departing in January, with West Ham looking like the destination.

Now, Giancluca Di Marzio has reported that the 27-year-old has already said his goodbyes to his Lazio teammates and arrived at the training ground this morning to empty his locker, with Matteo Moretto also confirming that he is due in London today.

The transfer is “all set” according to the Italian transfer reporter, with Castellanos to West Ham now looking like a done deal.

If Nuno Espirito Santo was ever going to turn things around with the Irons, he was going to need attacking reinforcements, and just days into the window, he looks set to welcome three of them.

How much are West Ham paying for Castellanos?

Di Marzio reported that the transfer will cost the Hammers £26.1million, with both clubs now finalising all of the remaining details.

New York City will receive 15 per cent of the fee due to a sell-on clause, leaving Lazio with the remaining £22.3m.

Castellanos will become West Ham‘s joint-13th most expensive signing, surpassing the fee that saw Crysencio Summerville move to the London Stadium last season, and matching the fee that was paid to sign Nikola Vlasic back in the 2021-22 season.

Castellanos will become the third most expensive striker in West Ham history, with Gianluca Scamacca and Sebastien Haller above him.
