Stan Collymore hails West Ham United business amid new transfer developments
Stan Collymore has raved about the next potential signings at West Ham as new transfer updates continue to emerge from the London Stadium.
Crysencio Summerville, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Niclas Fullkrug could all be part of the squad ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
With none of the deals completed yet, Collymore has defended Julen Lopetegui and Tim Steidten, suggesting that fans do not understand how long signings can take to complete during a transfer window.
Writing in his Caught Offside column [1 August] he wrote: “I remember saying that when Julen Lopetegui signed Max Kilman, that’s the manager getting his own way, getting his feet under the table and being placated.
“Fans perhaps don’t understand how long it takes to get a deal over the line. It’s all ‘get it done, get it done’ but it’s never as simple as that. Transfers have got to be done at the right time and for the right price as well.
“Fullkrug, I thought did well for Germany at the Euros and he harks back to a British-type centre-forward. West Ham have generally been more successful when they have a big man there [Andy Carroll/Michail Antonio], so I think that Jarrod Bowen and others playing off him is a great idea for West Ham.
“Wan-Bissaka for £10m-£15m would give West Ham a steady full-back, and we know what he can do. He’s got pace even if he does have questionable defensive abilities at times, in the same way that Trent Alexander Arnold’s capabilities have also been questioned.
“So, Fullkrug, Wan-Bissaka, Kilman and Crysencio Summerville… I think that’s good, solid business from West Ham in this window.”
West Ham United excitement begins as transfers close
The Hammers have agreed a £25million deal for Summerville, according to Fabrizio Romano, with a £21million bid now submitted for Dortmund striker Fullkrug [Florian Plettenberg].
Wan-Bissaka also looks to be heading for the London Stadium this summer, as per Florian Plettenberg, with the Hammers agreeing on personal terms with the player as the two clubs negotiate a transfer fee.
Despite these updates, fans are still frustrated with the lack of signings after a difficult 2023/24 season under David Moyes’ guidance, with many hoping for more transfers at this point.

So far, Lopetegui has added Palmeiras prospect Luis Guilherme and Wes Foderingham to the squad, with Wolves’ captain Max Kilman also joining on a £40million deal [BBC Sport].
With still the whole of August remaining until the transfer window closes, the Irons are likely to add multiple new signings to the squad, but fans are becoming restless with the speed at which these are being completed.
