Soungoutou Magassa could leave West Ham already after transfer update from Italy

Soungoutou Magassa is attracting interest ahead of January, just months after signing for West Ham.

West Ham are at risk of relegation this season, and their ability to avoid it will largely be determined by the business they can do in January.

The Irons need several reinforcements, with a new striker likely at the top of the list of priorities, given their frailties in the final third.

However, with the risk of dropping down to the Championship, clubs will be aware of the potential availability of several players, with Magassa one of those attracting interest.

Serie A club interested in Soungoutou Magassa

Magassa joined West Ham from Monaco in the summer, and since his arrival, the Frenchman has started four of the Hammers’ 15 games in the Premier League.

He was named on the bench for West Ham’s controversial 1-1 draw with Brighton, and played just eight minutes as a second-half sub.

With his inability to lock down a starting spot, Napoli have started to show an interest in the midfielder ahead of the January transfer window.

That is according to Tutto Mercato, who report that Magassa is valued at around £13.1million, despite the fact he joined in a package deal worth around £17m.

Napoli’s priority is believed to be Kobbie Mainoo, but a lack of encouragement from Man United over a deal could lead them to Magassa.

Gary Neville loved what Soungoutou Magassa did vs Man United

Magassa hasn’t had the impact he would have liked at West Ham, and that is likely reflected by the lack of starts handed to him by Nuno Espirito Santo.

However, he played a crucial role for West Ham in their 1-1 draw with Man United, having scored the only goal of the game for the Hammers.

That clash was arguably his best performance in a West Ham shirt, and it certainly caught the attention of Gary Neville.

Via Sky Sports, he said: “He has been all action, all round the pitch. Plenty of tackles, duels won. He’s really been a destroyer out there, and he got the goal to give West Ham a vital point.”
