Sean Whetstone shares what source told him about Danny Ings exit rumours at West Ham United

Danny Ings will not be leaving West Ham United anytime soon, according to Sean Whetstone.

Whetstone posted on his ‘West Ham Football’ X account [1 September] that reports linking Ings with a transfer to a club whose nation’s window remains open are wide of the mark. The striker’s contract will also not be terminated by mutual consent to find a new club.

Ings is understood to be happy at the London Stadium, where his contract expires next summer after joining in January 2023.

The post shared on Sunday read: “Danny Ings will NOT be leaving West Ham to another league whose transfer window is still open, and his contract will not be terminated by mutual consent, a club source has confirmed.

“A senior club source says: ‘He’s very happy at West Ham and wants to go nowhere. We had some good players missing from the bench until we get injuries’.”

Danny Ings set to stay at West Ham

There were several reports linking Ings with an exit from East London throughout the transfer window, with now having been the last realistic chance to claim a fee on the three-cap England forward.

At 32, there is still something to offer from a striker who has proven his mettle down the years, albeit struggling with numerous injury setbacks.

This is the 12th straight season Ings has spent in the Premier League, which is a tremendous feat for any player – and if Julen Lopetegui can keep him fit and raring to go, he can be a genuine asset this term.

Lopetegui has persisted with Michail Antonio to lead the line in the early stages of his reign, with new signing Niclas Fullkrug on the bench – Ings may struggle for game time in his system.

With it being likely he does depart in the next year, it could be a decision the Hammers are left to rue one day.

In other West Ham news, Lopetegui hints at an out-of-window signing.
