Report: West Ham on Saturday scouting mission to watch 11-goal forward
It is clear that West Ham United are screaming out for another striker in the January window.
Albian Ajeti still isn’t getting a look in with the Hammers despite David Moyes’ appointment, Michail Antonio has problems with his fitness, and Sebastien Haller is way too isolated.
If West Ham want to start climbing up the Premier League table and away from the relegation zone, a new face in the final third could be the catalyst for that.
It appears that the Hammers’ scouts have been busy over the weekend, joining other Premier League clubs in watching Lyon’s 2-1 win at Bordeaux on Saturday.
It has been reported by the Daily Mail that West Ham were watching Moussa Dembele, who scored in that victory for the away side.
The Hammers were joined by Manchester United, City, and Newcastle United taking in the action as the French international took his tally to 11 for the season in Ligue 1.
Lyon are suggested to be considering moves for Tino Kadewere and Karl Toko Ekambi – two transfers which may pave the way for Dembele’s sale.
Dembele would be a superb addition at the London Stadium, but there will be real question marks over whether or not the board would stump up a large amount of money just months after smashing their record for Haller.
The 23-year-old has been involved in five more goals than his fellow countryman and has also averaged more shots on goal and key passes per game as well as completing more dribbles according to WhoScored.
Dembele would offer much more competition in East London, but it may take a lot of persuasion to make him join given the level of other clubs watching him.
