Ray Parlour suggests West Ham move for Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani
Ray Parlour suggests West Ham could be an interested party if Edinson Cavani searches for a Manchester United exit in January.
Cavani, 34, scored 17 goals in 39 appearances for the Red Devils last season, including 10 in 26 Premier League outings.
However, owing to injuries and the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer, the Uruguayan has played just three times so far during the 2021/22 campaign, and his contract expires next summer.

Speaking on talkSPORT [01/10/21], ex-England midfielder Parlour believes the Irons could afford his hefty wages, should he look to leave Old Trafford in January.
He said: “If he did move on in January, Cavani, and said ‘I’m not happy, I want to play football’, would West Ham come in for Cavani?”
“I would worry about the wages,” Alan Brazil replied.
Parlour: “Wages won’t be a problem for West Ham.”
He added: “The problem is then, [Michail] Antonio wants to play every week, do you play two up front and change your tactics? Because Cavani is not going to West Ham to sit on the bench.”

Only one main man
Throwing money at old and expensive internationals at elite level clubs is surely a thing of West Ham’s past now.
There’s no denying Cavani is still a top player – last season was evidence of that – but there are injury concerns that surround him now, and his huge wages could not be justified when Antonio is spearheading another European charge for the Irons.
The east London club clearly need another forward to ease the burden on Antonio, but they need to be targeting a younger alternative, perhaps one that will be prepared to play second fiddle for the next year or so.
That’s not Cavani, and it’s unlikely a move to West Ham would whet his appetite, either.
