Paris Saint-Germain want to ‘Get Rid’ of Hugo Ekitike in January as West Ham United could reignite interest

West Ham United have been handed a boost in their bid to sign Hugo Ekitike in January after it emerged PSG “absolutely want to get rid”, according to FootMercato.

Writing on their website (28 October), the French news outlet report that the young forward has been completely frozen out in Paris and an “ultimate solution” will be sought after in January to get rid of him.

And after West Ham were linked in the summer, they report that an unnamed English club is “still very interested” and could make a move for the £130,000 per-week star during the January transfer window.

“This will undoubtedly involve a departure this winter,” they wrote.

“A solution that could satisfy everyone if both parties ever come together. Because inevitably the player’s precarious sporting situation has caused his market value to melt away… but not his popularity rating, which is still intact in a market for No. 9s that is sparse at this time of year.

“According to our information, an English club whose name has not been leaked is still very interested and could go on the offensive this winter. In Ligue 1, few clubs can afford to relaunch the French striker except as part of a loan with high salary coverage (editor’s note: Hugo Ekitike currently receives 600,000 euros gross per month (£130k p/w) until June 2027).

“An ultimate solution, which could be favored by PSG which absolutely wants to get rid of Hugo Ekitike this winter.”

Interest

West Ham need a forward and Ekitike could be a smart option for David Moyes and the Hammers to explore in January.

Danny Ings’ Hammers career is all but over after less than a year having failed to ever really make an impact in claret and blue since joining from Aston Villa last January, while there are big question marks about Michail Antonio and his future as well as his form this season.

Moyes doesn’t seem to like Mohammed Kudus as the number nine option, and that means Ekitike who is of a similar frame and style would likely be used in a more wide position too.

But having the option of playing him up front or wide is positive, especially considering the fact Pablo Fornals seems to be past his best and Maxwel Cornet is out of the club’s plans too.

Knowing how badly he wants out and they want him out, there is the potential for a cut-price deal there and we’d be silly not to at least be looking into it.

In other West Ham news, Fabrizio Romano has sharted what he’s heard about Jose Mourinho coming to east London in 2024.
