Nuri Sahin makes Niclas Fullkrug decision amid West Ham United transfer talk
Borussia Dortmund head coach Nuri Sahin has given the green light for Niclas Fullkrug to complete a move to West Ham United, according to The Mirror.
As reported by Ryan Taylor on the newspaper’s website’s live transfer tracker [1 August, 11:50am], Sahin is willing to sanction Fullkrug’s move to London Stadium due to already having four strikers on the books.
AC Milan, Atletico Madrid and Stuttgart all hold an interest in the 21-cap German international, but the Hammers are in pole position despite seeing an offer of £15m rejected by BVB [Ben Jacobs, 31 July].
The latest on Fullkrug appears to be that he is set to fly into London to get the deal over the line and finalise personal terms [Sean Whetstone, 1 August].
Borussia Dortmund boss lets Niclas Fullkrug leave for West Ham
Having recently succeeded his former boss Edin Terzic as Dortmund head coach, Sahin is having a considerable say in shaping up his squad.
Part of this looks to be to allow Fullkrug to leave Signal Iduna Park after one season, in which he netted 12 Bundesliga goals in 29 matches.
The 31-year-old has enjoyed the best scoring form of his career in the past few years, earning his first Germany bow at the age of 29 – since hitting 13 goals in his 21 caps and counting.

Fullkrug departs a team that currently boasts an array of attackers, including Sebastien Haller, who scored 14 goals in 54 appearances for the Irons between 2019 and 2021. However, the less said about his time in east London the better.
Serhou Guirassy and Youssoufa Moukoko are also among Sahin’s options this season, but Fullkrug notably will not be if this update is anything to go by.
In other West Ham news, Tammy Abraham has rejected the club in favour of a different move.
