Niclas Fullkrug transfer loophole ready after latest West Ham exit developments

Niclas Fullkrug is destined for the West Ham United exit already.

Fullkrug is set to join Serie A giants AC Milan on loan until the end of the season after falling out of favour at the London Stadium.

The 32-year-old has been training with the San Siro side over recent days as he waits for the move to be officially confirmed.

However, there is still one problem that Milan needs to tackle before Fullkrug can make his first appearance for the Rossoneri.

AC Milan to receive exemption for Niclas Fullkrug signing

AC Milan face Cagliari in Serie A on Friday, and Massimiliano Allegri is desperate to have Fullkrug available for selection.

Allegri’s side are currently second in the table, just a point behind arch-rivals Inter Milan, meaning they can go top with a win.

With the Italian transfer window not opening until 2 January, the day of the game, Milan wouldn’t have time to officially register Fullkrug under normal circumstances.

However, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Italian side are likely to receive special dispensation from Serie A, and the German will be allowed to feature against Cagliari if his registration application is submitted by 4 pm, less than four hours before kick off.

Milan fully expect to get the deal over the line before the deadline, with West Ham needing to collaborate over the final documents.

Why are West Ham letting Niclas Fullkrug leave?

Fullkrug’s exit has been on the cards for over a month now, and the striker hasn’t featured for West Ham since coming off the bench in a 2-0 defeat to Liverpool back in November.

He is simply not in the plans of Nuno Espirito Santo, who is clearly unhappy with the centre-forward options at the London Stadium, given his reluctance to play Callum Wilson as well.

Rather than keeping Fullkrug at the club where he is not wanted, West Ham have decided to allow the German to leave on loan, with the hope that it will eventually become a permanent exit.

Milan have an option to buy the 32-year-old at the end of the season, but it is not mandatory, so he could conceivably return to the Hammers in the summer.
