Niclas Fullkrug transfer could be sorted before January 1 as West Ham details revealed

Niclas Fullkrug could complete his West Ham exit to AC Milan sooner than first thought.

Fullkrug signed for West Ham from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2024, hoping to spearhead their attack for years to come.

However, the 32-year-old has not enjoyed a fruitful stint at the London Stadium, scoring just three times in 29 total appearances so far, being hit by several injuries.

Bundesliga side Wolfsburg have been linked with a move for Fullkrug, with West Ham appearing to have Norwich City star Josh Sargent in mind as his replacement.

They may have to move early, though.

West Ham could complete Niclas Fullkrug exit before January transfer window opens

Serie A giants AC Milan are also understood to be keen on signing Fullkrug.

Transfer guru Florian Plettenberg revealed on Wednesday that Milan have tabled a formal offer for Fullkrug, with the proposed deal said to be a loan with an option to buy.

However, Plettenberg states that West Ham would prefer it if any deal for the striker included an obligation instead.

But, in a new update from Milan-based reporter Antonio Vitiello, he states that a deal between Milan and the Hammers is moving “closer and closer”.

The Italian giants want to get the transfer completed before the January transfer window opens in order to get him involved as soon as possible, with the option to buy more likely now.

West Ham will surely be in favour of speedy conclusion to Fullkrug transfer talks

When it comes to the January transfer window ahead, one thing that West Ham can’t afford to see happen is business dealings dragging on.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are firmly embroiled in a relegation battle and must enjoy a strong winter of transfers if they are to give themselves the best chance of survival.

As such, moving on fringe players quickly to make way for potential impact-making arrivals is going to be key, and so a month-long saga involving Fullkrug wouldn’t be a desired outcome for any party involved.

Whilst West Ham may not get the most favourable terms that they would’ve hoped for, getting Fullkrug off the books in some capacity before the window has even begun could be an excellent start to their crucial January shopping trip.
