Niclas Fullkrug number revealed ahead of new West Ham United transfer today
Borussia Dortmund striker Niclas Fullkrug is set to wear the number 24 at West Ham United, according to Patrick Berger.
The Sky Germany journalist has reported via X (4 August) that was the number he wore at his previous clubs, Hannover and Nurnberg.
The striker is set to sign a four-year deal [Fabrizio Romano, 4 August] with the Hammers set to officially announce his move on Monday 5 August.
Niclas Fullkrug could help West Ham United into Europe
Last season, West Ham managed to finish in a respectable ninth place. However, the Hammers’ defence and strikers were one of the main reasons that the club failed to finish higher in the standings.
David Moyes’ side had the fourth-worst defensive record in the league and both Michail Antonio and Danny Ings failed to score a combined 10 goals across all competitions.
Not only does this show how much Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus carried the club last term but it also shows that changes are needed.
Fullkrug has already completed his medical at the London Stadium and is set to be announced as a Hammers player within hours.
Not only does this solve one of the club’s main problems but it also shows that they mean business this season.
The addition of Max Kilman also does this and outlines that the club knew where they needed to improve before the start of the Premier League campaign.
Whilst two players won’t make a team automatically unstoppable, it’s a sure-fire way to try and take control of the situation.
