Niclas Fullkrug must be having a laugh as new West Ham exit details emerge
Niclas Fullkrug wants to leave West Ham in the January transfer window to boost his 2026 World Cup chances.
Fullkrug joined West Ham from Borussia Dortmund on a four-year deal for a reported £27million fee in August 2024.
However, Fullkrug now wants to leave West Ham this winter after receiving limited minutes this season – largely down to his own injury problems.
But a departure from the Premier League side may not be as simple as the 32-year-old would want.

Niclas Fullkrug has no chance of making Germany’s World Cup squad
Fullkrug is ready to leave West Ham has now made that known, according to The Standard, with a move back to his homeland the top priority.
There is already contact between his representatives and interested clubs in Germany. However, no deal has been agreed with the winter window still six weeks away from opening.
The forward was a key player for Germany at Euro 2024 and was named in squads earlier this year, but his chances of making the final group for World Cup 2026 appear incredibly slim at this point.
Inconsistent and injuries are two words that best describe his tenure with the Hammers.
Indeed, the forward has missed over 215 days for club and country since arriving during the 2024-25 season.
This number is only set to increase, given that Fullkrug is currently sidelined for West Ham with a muscle injury.
As a result, the German international has made just 27 appearances for the Hammers, netting three goals and providing two assists.

Not to mention that he has underperformed when fit to start. His last game for the Hammers came during their 2-2 home draw to Bournemouth last April.
Thus, even if Fullkrug were to leave West Ham this winter, he’d have minimal chance of being named in Julian Nagelsmann’s World Cup squad.
Niclas Fullkrug should not leave without a replacement
West Ham are currently fighting Premier League relegation, having just picked up 10 points in 11 games.
Despite back-to-back wins in the league for Nuno before the November international break, the Hammers are not out of the danger zone just yet.
- West Ham have netted just 13 goals this season
- The Hammers have conceded 23 goals, the second most in the league
Callum Wilson is finally proving his worth at West Ham, but Nuno’s squad will be left quite thin if he is injured.
As a result, West Ham must find a suitable replacement for Fullkrug before letting him leave this winter.
