Nayef Aguerd transfer update at West Ham as Saudi clubs have late deadline

Nayef Aguerd is now expected to stay at West Ham United, according to Dharmesh Sheth.

The Sky Sports Journalist reported [30 August, 14:50] that Saudi interest still remains in the Moroccan defender at the London Stadium.

Sheth also added that despite the 11 pm deadline across Europe, Saudi teams don’t have their deadline until Monday 2 September.

West Ham United need to find a team for Nayef Aguerd

Of all the players that West Ham are trying to offload before the 11 pm deadline on Friday, Aguerd is likely one that the club will want off their books more than some.

The defender contributed to the Hammers having the fourth-worst defence in the Premier League last term and since arriving, the Morocco international has failed to have much of an impact.

Club captain Kurt Zouma already has one foot out of the exit door with his move to Al-Orouba being all but officially confirmed [Nawaf Oga, 29 August].

The Londoners have already welcomed both Max Kilman and Jean Clair-Todibo to their ranks who will obviously replace both Aguerd and Zouma.

So, this means that, if Aguerd chooses to stay at the London Stadium, he will be sent further down the pecking order and more than likely be sat burning a wage on the Hammers’ bench.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers have made a ‘last-ditch’ attempt to sign a Premier League midfielder.
