Nayef Aguerd contract offer made as West Ham United transfer talks shared

Nayef Aguerd could be set for a permanent exit from West Ham United this summer.

After such a disappointing campaign last time out, West Ham fans will have been hoping to see some early business this summer, though that hasnt been the case.

Alebit only six days into the window, there has been very little movement on a transfer front at the London Stadium, with most of the focus on potential exits.

With that in mind, several stars have been linked with a move away from the Irons, and Aguerd may have just taken a step closer to sealing his.

Ligue 1 outfit offer contract to Aguerd

Ever since Aguerd left West Ham on loan, questions emerged as to whether his future would be at the London Stadium or not, though the latest update suggests it won’t be.

According to Santi Aouna via X (6 June), Marseille are looking to bolster their squad ahead of their Champions League campaign, and have offered a contract to Aguerd in a bid to achieve that.

An agreement is yet to be reached with the Hammers, with Leverkusen and Sociedad also keen on striking a permanent deal for the Moroccan international, with talks over his future ongoing.

As to whether West Ham will sell, time will tell, but his departure would heighten the need for the Irons to recruit another centre back, especially given the fact that Graham Potter has seemingly adopted a three at the back formation.

Potter must be backed, not restricted

West Ham have a hell of a lot of work to do this summer, and by losing players, the task will only get harder as the period goes on.

The Irons need desperate reinforcements after failing to impress last season, while also requiring players capable of playing the system that Potter wants.

There feels like there is a sense of inevitability that Aguerd will be one of the players to move on from the London Stadium this summer, and if so, West Ham need to ensure that they get a reasonable fee for his services.
