Nathan Trott contract update emerges at West Ham United as London Stadium exit mooted

West Ham United are set to extend Nathan Trott’s contract at the London Stadium ahead of a potential summer sale, according to Tipsbladet.

The Danish outlet reported on its website on Tuesday (30 April) that the 25-year-old goalkeeper is a target for a number of clubs ahead of the end of the season when his initial deal expires at the London Stadium.

Trott has impressed whilst on loan with Vejle Boldklub this season and the Hammers are keen to activate the two-year extension on his contract so that they can ensure they earn a transfer fee should the stopper leave this summer.

The contract extension option has no set expiry date, so the Irons just have to make use of it before the forgotten keeper’s contract expires in East London at the end of June.

Will Nathan Trott leave West Ham United in the summer transfer window?

Trott has repeatedly insisted that he still dreams of being a regular starter for the Hammers in the future, but with this latest update, it seems undeniably clear that those in charge in East London see his career panning out in a different manner.

The growing interest in Denmark means that a permanent move away from the London Stadium seems incredibly likely this summer and the Irons have put themselves in an excellent position to pocket a reasonable fee for his services.

Whether as many clubs will be desperate to secure his services this summer when they learn that they have to pay a transfer fee, rather than the move being a free transfer remains to be seen. Either way, it seems unlikely West Ham will hold out for millions of pounds.

Both Alphonse Areola and Lukasz Fabianski have impressed when called upon this season and there is little to suggest those in charge in East London are desperate to make changes to their goalkeeping department.

It seems as though Trott will end his Hammers career as a one-cap wonder regardless of what happens between now and the end of the season.
