Mick Doherty hands in notice to quit top role at West Ham United
Mick Doherty has handed his notice to quit his top role at West Ham, according to Alan Nixon.
Writing on his Patreon on Sunday (15 October), the Sun journalist said the “top spy” decided to move on from his position at the London Stadium last week.
He added that Doherty had previously worked with Hammers manager David Moyes for a number of years at Everton after only joining the East Londoners towards the back end of last year.

Blow
This news will have come as a real blow to Moyes as Doherty has been a long-term ally of the West Ham boss throughout his time in management.
The Scotsman was desperate to bring the scout to the London Stadium last year as he wanted help in finding “rising stars” and “emerging talents” to add to his team.
Doherty is clearly someone Moyes trusts in the game as he doesn’t allow just anyone to join his staff and he likes to keep a tight-knit group around him.

The scout may have played a role in the Irons’ transfer business over the summer, which has received praise from several pundits after the strong start to the season.
The journalist didn’t detail why Doherty has decided to move on, but that information could become clearer in time if he ends up joining a new club over the next few weeks.
In other West Ham news, Ferdinand has labelled a decision regarding a Hammers star as “crazy”.
