Maxwel Cornet wants to quit West Ham as club seeks deal ‘confirmation’
Maxwel Cornet has never truly settled at West Ham since his move from Burnley back in 2022.
The 28-year-old has been used mainly as a squad player before he was loaned out this campaign.
Cornet was originally sent to Southampton, but the Ivorian struggled to make an impact at the South Coast club and made just two appearances.
Subsequently, the winger was sent to Italian side Genoa on loan, where he has impressed.

Cornet seeking to stay at loan club Genoa
Cornet had a great start to life in the Serie A after leaving West Ham in January.
In his first six matches, the 28-year-old picked up two goals and an assist, with the Italian side only losing two of these games.
However, his campaign was soon disrupted by injuries, and he only made one more appearance on the final day of the campaign.

Yet, Genoa have apparently seen enough and are now looking to sign the winger this summer.
According to Corriere dello Sport, page 20 (6 June), the Italian outfit is in contact with West Ham as they would like to “confirm” Cornet as their player next season.
The 28-year-old has reiterated his intention to stay at Genoa, but an agreement on his salary is also needed.

West Ham need to get rid of their deadwood this summer
With West Ham having issues with PSR this summer, an easy way for the London club to make money is to get rid of their deadwood.
The Hammers have plenty of players in their squad who are unlikely to ever see regular first-team action again.
Stars such as Nayef Aguerd have recently been linked away from West Ham after loan spells, and Graham Potter must simply cash in.
There is no point keeping hold of players such as Cornet and Aguerd, who are never going to play at the London Stadium again, as their value will diminish.
Hopefully, Potter sees this and will look to cash in on his deadwood as soon as possible.
