Marseille defender Duje Caleta-Car on his way to sign for West Ham
Marseille defender Duje Caleta-Car is on his way to join West Ham, according to Express journalist Ryan Taylor.
Writing via his personal Twitter account on Sunday (30 January), Taylor reported that while a deal is not yet finalised for the 25-year-old centre-back, he’s been told that he is “heading to West Ham”.
Get French Football News reported earlier in the day that the Irons are signing Caleta-Car for £19.9million in total fees with talks at an advanced stage.
Deal close
Phew, we thought we’d never see the day when West Ham actually sign a new player.
While there’s bound to be a lot of paperwork to sift through, different agreements to be made and a medical to be passed, Caleta-Car does seem as though he’s going to be David Moyes’ first signing of the January transfer window.

We hope that it’s not his last signing of the month though as Moyes’ strikeforce is still in need of an extra body.
If Michail Antonio gets injured, we’re going to be in trouble because Jarrod Bowen is better on the right and Andriy Yarmolenko is better being left on the bench – or at home.
There simply must be options out there for Moyes, who’s been widely reported to have tabled £50million bids for each of Leeds United’s Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips.
He doesn’t need them. He needs a striker and a centre-back.
Luckily, it seems as though half of his problems may be solved soon.
