Maresca reveals if he will sign West Ham star after Chelsea win Conference League

West Ham are expected to sell multiple stars this summer as they battle PSR.

Reports claim that the Hammers will have to sell to buy in the upcoming transfer window in a summer that could define their Premier League status next season.

Multiple stars have already been linked away from the London Stadium after a poor campaign.

The most prominent name is no doubt Jarrod Bowen, who has been linked with a West Ham departure.

Therefore, many Premier League clubs are sniffing around the London club this summer, including Chelsea.

Maresca refuses to sign Michail Antonio, claiming the West Ham star is ‘too old’

West Ham fans watched in horror on Wednesday night as Chelsea lifted the Europa Conference League.

The Blues’ 4-1 victory over Real Betis now means they have repeated the Hammers’ feat that they achieved under David Moyes in 2023.

Chelsea’s trophy is just another reason why West Ham’s 2024/25 campaign is a season to forget.

Now, Blues boss Enzo Maresca can look towards the transfer window after a trophy-winning year.

Chelsea have already been linked with Bowen this summer. However, Maresca has refused to make a move for Michail Antonio after he labelled him “too old”.

On TNT Sports (28 May), Antonio asked Maresca about next season.

Joe Cole then said: “I thought you were going to ask if he need another number nine.”

Maresca quickly replied: “You are too old,” with the trio then all laughing at the exchange.

Antonio’s West Ham departure likely soon

Antonio has had a dreadfully unlucky campaign. The attacker was involved in a car accident in December, which ruled him out until the end of the campaign.

However, even if the striker is to return soon, it is unlikely that he will play a big part in the squad.

Antonio has been a great servant for West Ham

Antonio recently turned 35 years old and was struggling for goals before his injury.

West Ham were recently told to release Antonio, with his contract set to expire this summer.

Hopefully, a decision will be made that will benefit both parties as the striker looks to return to the playing field soon.
