Manchester United transfer news as West Ham agree deal to sign Harry Maguire
West Ham United have agreed a £30m fee in principle Harry Maguire from Manchester United in a deal worth more than £30m, according to Sky Sports.
Writing on their official website (9 August, 9:53) the news outlet report that an agreement has been found between the clubs and it’s just details remaining with the Hammers “cautiously optimistic” a deal can be completed.
West Ham had a bid of around £30m rejected earlier this week, but a deal has now advanced and the player is expected to move to the London Stadium.

“West Ham United have an agreement in principle with Manchester United to sign defender Hary Maguire in a deal worth in the region of £30m,” they wrote.
“Personal terms are now not expected to be a problem.
“Still work to do on the details of his exit at [Manchester] United, but West Ham are now cautiously optimistic about completing the signing.”
Excellent
There is a bit of a stigma around Maguire right now because of the form and struggles he has had over the last 12 months.
But for West Ham and in a David Moyes team there aren’t many better defenders available and this is a fantastic signing for the club.

He is an international defender with experience at the highest level and has captained Manchester United and England and will make the team far stronger from set-pieces too which is something the manager wants.
It’s clear there has been progress on the push for transfers between Moyes and Steidten and now we can finally see progress ahead of the new season.
Fans should be excited about the deal, and the fee is good for everyone. This is a great deal. Maguire makes us stronger and adds leadership to a squad lacking in it, and we still have plenty of money left to bolster elsewhere.
