Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham tracking Nayef Aguerd in West Ham United transfer news

West Ham United defender Nayef Aguerd has caught the eye of Manchester United, Tottenham and Liverpool, with all three clubs closely following the Moroccan, according to Jeunes Footeux.

The 27-year-old has moved from strength to strength since moving to West Ham for £30million last summer, delivering the goods once again by scoring the winning goal against relegation rivals Southampton on Sunday (2 April).

Jeunes Footeux have now reported that all three Champions League-chasing clubs are in the market for a left-sided centre-back in the summer transfer window, with Aguerd considered an alternative to compensate for the probable departure of Joel Matip at Anfield.

Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag is “not convinced” by Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof, while Spurs are looking to find a replacement for the likely exit of Clement Lenglet.

Aguerd has “caught the eye” of these Premier League clubs, with all three now “closely following the services of the Moroccan international.”

Oh dear

It was only going to be a matter of time until Aguerd’s heroics for West Ham United were going to catch the attention of Europe’s elite, and this could now be a huge issue for the club going forward.

Aguerd has been an indispensable cog in David Moyes’ works at the London Stadium and the centre-back announced himself on the world stage with Morocco at the Qatar World Cup, so it is no surprise to see this interest arise.

The defender’s future with the Hammers will likely hinge on whether the club can maintain their Premier League status this season, with a departure all but certain if relegated to the Championship in the summer.

Sunday’s gritty 1-0 win over Southampton was a prime example of Aguerd’s qualities and sky-high potential.

Although the Hammers were nowhere near their best, the Moroccan and Kurt Zouma were colossal at the back and never looked like shipping a goal to Ruben Selles’ side.

His smart and well-placed header capped off a fine individual performance and will now have left the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool on red-hot alert.
