Manchester United face James Overy complication as West Ham United miss out

Manchester United are facing a battle to register James Overy after beating Everton and West Ham to his services, according to the Sun.

The newspaper reported via its online edition on 20 July that the 17-year-old is to get his transfer cleared.

The Australian right-back has not been able to feature for the Red Devils as the Premier League and FIFA are both looking at his transfer.

West Ham unlikely to be keeping tabs on James Overy’s developments

It does not make sense for the Hammers to continue to monitor Overy’s situation.

The Australian right-back has already chosen Manchester United over the Irons and Everton and Leicester and his decision was perhaps influenced by the club’s riches.

Given that Overy has made his decision and the Old Trafford outfit are working to resolve the registration issues with the Premier League and FIFA, there is little reason for West Ham to continue to invest time and resources in tracking his progress.

The club should instead focus on identifying and pursuing other promising young talents who are available and interested in moving to the London Stadium.

At the same time, it’s also crucial that the club do not lose track of their goals for next season and continue strengthening the first team.

The squad needs to be bolstered in defence and attack and another midfielder would also not be something Julen Lopetegui opposes.
