Manchester City preparing third bid for West Ham ace Lucas Paqueta, confident deal will be done

Manchester City are confident a deal will be reached with West Ham for the transfer of midfielder Lucas Paqueta, according to The Secret Scout.

The transfer news source shared an update via Twitter (17 August), stating that Txiki Begiristain, Manchester City’s director of football, is set to contact the Hammers on Thursday (17 August) and make a new offer for the 25-year-old.

An offer closer to West Ham’s £85million asking price for their Brazil international star is expected.

Imminent

It appears as if a deal for Paqueta could now just be a matter of when, not if, as Manchester City seem prepared to flex their financial muscle on their Premier League rivals. While some supporters might be frustrated to see the player, who has become something of a cult hero at the club, leave so soon, it is not all doom and gloom.

The fee being discussed for Paqueta is an eye-watering figure and that money could be reinvested in the squad to bring more exciting young talent to the London Stadium.

West Ham

Players such as Mohammed Kudus, Jeremy Doku and Elye Wahi have all been linked with switches to David Moyes’ side and could all offer similar qualities to that of Paqueta while having plenty of room to develop and improve as well in East London.

Therefore, while Paqueta could be off, his replacements might not be far behind.

In other West Ham news, the task is clear for the club to land the signing of one of their three primary attacking targets.
