Lyon want to sign Said Benrahma in January, West Ham United ace open to move

Lyon want to sign West Ham United winger Said Benrahma in the January transfer window, according to talkSPORT.

The publication reported on its website on Saturday (24 December) that the Algerian international is open to a move.

The 28-year-old attacker has made 19 appearances in all competitions under David Moyes this season, playing just over 1,000 minutes in total.

“West Ham winger Said Benrahma is a January target for French club Lyon, talkSPORT understands. “Benrahma is open to a move after seeing his game time limited this season, with just over 1,000 minutes played in 19 appearances.”

Time to go?

It certainly could be the end for Benrahma at the London Stadium next month, but it may just be a strange time to lose the winger.

He clearly isn’t anywhere near first choice under Moyes this season, with the likes of Jarrod Bowen, Mohammed Kudus and Lucas Paqueta well ahead of the Algerian in the pecking order. But the Hammers manager needs as big a squad as possible in order to successfully compete on all fronts.

The London Stadium club were recently knocked out of the EFL Cup, but are flying high in the Premier League after beating Manchester United 2-0 on Saturday. They are also into the knockout rounds of the Europa League, with the FA Cup third round rapidly approaching.

A Benrahma exit could, however, take place if Moyes and his backroom staff have a replacement in mind, which could work out for all parties involved, particularly the player himself.

In other West Ham news, a striker that the Hammers want to sign has been exiled by his current club.
