Lukasz Fabianski in line for stunning West Ham return with transfer now close
Lukasz Fabianski had a memorable seven years with West Ham before leaving in the summer.
Fabianski could return as one of six remaining West Ham players from their European Conference League-winning squad from 2024.
The 40-year-old left at the end of last season, having struggled for gametime, but has yet to find a new club.
With one of the Hammers’ keepers now set to depart, the former Poland international appears to be the perfect option in goal.

West Ham could sign Lukasz Fabianski after Wes Foderingham exit
West Ham signed Mads Hermansen for around £20million from Leicester.
The hunt for goalkeepers didn’t stop there, as Graham Potter’s side failed in two attempts to sign John Victor from Botafogo.
The Brazilian ended up joining Nottingham Forest, and the Hammers moved on to other targets such as Sheffield Wednesday’s Pierce Charles, but the transfer failed to materialise.
Alphonse Areola clearly isn’t in West Ham’s first team plans, and the same can be said for former Sheffield United keeper Wes Foderingham.
- Fabianski kept 92 clean sheets in 372 games for the Hammers
- He managed 144 wins and 154 losses across those games
- He maintained a save percentage of 72% for the Irons
According to ExWHUEmployee, Foderingham, who is regarded as the club’s third-choice goalkeeper, is understood to be departing for a club in Cyprus.
The Irons could now make a move to re-sign former Hammer Fabianski, although this is not yet confirmed.

Alphonse Areola next after Wes Foderingham exit
Areola’s future with the Hammers looks to be running out.
The Frenchman will be keen for first-team football after being replaced by Hermansen as their number one.
Current West Ham goalkeeper options:
- Mads Hermansen
- Alphonse Areola
- Wes Foderingham
- Krisztian Hegyi
Potter will still be keen to get a new backup keeper in January, even if Fabianski joins.
Areola is one of the highest-paid players for the Hammers on £120,000 a week, which gives them even more reason to offload him.
After such a failure of a summer transfer window and growing pressure on David Sullivan to sell the club, the Irons must get their priorities straight in January and fix the problems that weren’t fixed in the last few months.
