Luis Guilherme agrees West Ham exit in shock transfer news

Luis Guilherme had reached a verbal agreement with Porto to leave West Ham United in the winter transfer window, according to Maisfutebol.

The news outlet revealed on their X account (4 February) that the Portuguese outfit let the 18-year-old’s signing from the Hammers slip away.

While the Brazilian forward had accepted a move to the Primeira Liga club, there wasn’t enough time left to finalise the deal before their 4 February deadline.

Porto fail in late Luis Guilherme transfer from West Ham United

Guilherme only moved to the Irons last summer from Palmeiras and has failed to make a mark during his short time at the London Stadium.

It wouldn’t have been a surprise for the fans to see the youngster leave on Deadline Day, considering his lack of minutes under Julen Lopetegui and Graham Potter.

In the current campaign, the 18-year-old has made just seven appearances for the East London club, and none of them have been as a starter.

West Ham have an abundance of talent up front in the likes of Jarrod Bowen, Mohammed Kudus and Lucas Paqueta, making it challenging for any other star to get into the team.

Guilherme wasn’t even able to get opportunities at the Hammers despite the injury issues up front, with Niclas Fullkrug and Michail Antonio long-term absentees.

Evan Ferguson has been signed on loan from Brighton, and it remains to be seen whether the Brazilian youngster will now push for a move to another league where the transfer window is still open.

While Potter handed the 18-year-old some valuable minutes as he came on as a late substitute in the 2-1 loss to Chelsea on Monday (3 February), he will undoubtedly be looking for a move away.

The forward’s situation is one to still keep an eye on.
