Leeds United respond as West Ham United make Crysencio Summerville transfer offer

Leeds United have responded that they are under no pressure to sell Crysencio Summerville amid interest from West Ham, according to Graham Smyth.

The Yorkshire Evening Post shared how the Whites responded after Fabrizio Romano reported on 22 July that the Hammers have made an official proposal to sign the Dutch attacker.

It’s understood that the Championship outfit feel that they can dictate terms over the future of the 22-year-old.

Smyth wrote on X on 22 July: “Only a matter of time before someone tests Leeds United’s resolve on Crysencio Summerville. Fabrizio Romano reports West Ham United are keen to do that, Leeds saying nothing on that but insist they don’t need to sell so could dictate terms.”

West Ham must not be deterred by Leeds United stance on Crysencio Summerville

The Whites currently hold a strong negotiating position regarding Summerville, as the club insist they are under no pressure to sell him.

This stance allows them to dictate the terms of any potential transfer, setting a high bar for interested clubs like the Hammers.

However, Leeds’ control over the situation is contingent on the 22-year-old himself.

If he decides to formally request a transfer, it could shift the power dynamic significantly.

Once Summerville expresses a desire to leave and potentially agrees on personal terms with another club, such as West Ham, he gains leverage in negotiations.

This could force the Elland Road outfit into a more compromising position, potentially having to accept a lower fee or more favourable terms for the buying club to prevent an unhappy player from remaining at the club against his will.

This is only the start and if the Hammers desperately want him, they are going to be persistent in their pursuits.

In other West Ham news, a £11.6million bid update has emerged as the Hammers aim to beat Brighton to seal a new transfer.
