Kyle Walker-Peters agrees West Ham United transfer in new developments

Kyle Walker-Peters has agreed to join West Ham United, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist reported via X on Friday (28 June) that negotiations are underway between the Hammers and the Saints for the defender as well as Flynn Downes.

A swap deal is being discussed and is described as a “concrete possibility”.

However, there is still work to do between the two clubs if they are to get a transfer across the line.

Will Kyle Walker-Peters join West Ham United from Southampton?

This would be a fantastic bit of business for the Hammers, and the possibility of a swap deal with Southampton makes a lot of sense.

Julen Lopetegui already has several midfielders on his books, and Downes has performed well at Southampton while on loan and would likely welcome a permanent switch to the club.

Meanwhile, a right-back is desperately needed at the London Stadium.

Ben Johnson looks set to leave the club and Vladimír Coufal will soon be celebrating his 32nd birthday.

West Ham need refreshing in defence, and Walker-Peters could be the perfect player for that.

He excelled in an attacking role in the Championship last season, and he could therefore arrive as an exciting option at right-back for Lopetegui to utilise.

However, supporters at the London Stadium would need to forgive Walker-Peters’ Tottenham connections, with the defender having come through the ranks and made a name for himself in North London.

But as long as he does the business for the Hammers if he does join, that can no doubt quickly be forgotten.

In other West Ham news, the club want to beat Brighton to the signing of a £20million-rated midfielder.
