Kurt Zouma in talks over Dubai transfer as West Ham United exit twist emerges
West Ham are in talks with a football club in Dubai over Kurt Zouma with a free transfer being discussed, according to Sean Whetstone.
The Hammers news account reported on 6 August that talks are ongoing for the 29-year-old in the UAE rather than in Saudi Arabia.
This had been suggested previously by ExWHUEmployee who said: “There has been a taker from the Saudi League.”
Now it appears that a club in Dubai want the Frenchman but only if he would join as a free agent, Whetstone’s “sources have confirmed”.
Kurt Zouma could leave West Ham for Dubai move
West Ham could be set to lose their captain but this won’t come as a surprise to fans given their side’s summer transfer activity.
Julen Lopetegui and Tim Steidten have worked to bring new centre-back options in and have been successful so far.
Max Kilman has come in from Wolves while links to Jean-Clair Todibo have been frequent in recent weeks [GiveMeSport].
With Angelo Ogbonna already gone and Nayef Aguerd also linked with a departure from the London Stadium [Caught Offside], the new head coach has to be careful.
Letting go of so many experienced figures, especially the current club captain, could prove to unsettle the dressing room somewhat.
Although Zouma is approaching 30 and didn’t have his best season last time around, there is a useful player there for Lopetegui.
It appears that his days in East London are numbered and a move away could suit Zouma whose minutes are only going to lessen.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers are still expected to sign another Premier League defender after landing a trio of additions further forward.
