The Greek defender was named Hammer of the Year for the 2025-26 campaign, so it wasn't surprising the club wanted to keep him after relegation.
In the end, despite no new deal being agreed, the Irons kept hold of the defender, who is arguably as important as Jarrod Bowen to their promotion hopes.
As things stand, Mavropanos' contract runs until June 2028 and the East London outfit will have a decision to make on him next summer.

The Hammers certainly have a better chance of achieving automatic promotion with the defender.
Nuno surely wouldn't want to see Mavropanos sold in the winter transfer window and should do everything he can to keep him.
If the Irons don't win promotion, the former Arsenal ace will likely leave, but even if they do, there's no guarantee he'll stay.
