Konstantinos Mavropanos could be in stands to watch West Ham United v Chelsea amid new signing twist – ExWHUemployee

Konstantinos Mavropanos could be in the stands to watch West Ham against Chelsea, as the Hammers hope he will be able to attend the game ahead of a proposed medical, according to ExWHUemployee.

The West Ham news source shared via his Patreon on 19 August that a medical has been booked and is likely to take place on Sunday (20 August), with the club hoping Mavropanos would be in the country in time to watch their Premier League clash with Chelsea.

It was also reported that personal terms are not expected to be an issue, and neither is his minor back issue in the medical, after a £25million total fee was agreed with his club which would see him become the first Greek international to play for West Ham.

Another fresh addition

Unlike other signings made by the Hammers this summer, Mavropanos’ arrival may be the beginning of a change in the way David Moyes sets up his side.

The Scot has opted to go with a back four so far this season, but another incoming centre-back would likely see him switch to a back three (or a five with wing-backs), as Mavropanos could slot in alongside the current first-choice duo of Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd.

There would now be plenty of backup in the defensive areas, with the three aforementioned players backed up by Thilo Kehrer, Angelo Ogbonna and 18-year-old academy graduate Kaelan Casey.

West Ham’s efforts in the transfer market have upped in recent weeks following the arrivals of Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse, and they have moved quickly on this deal following the breakdown in talks with Harry Maguire. Moyes will certainly be pleased with the new additions to his side.

In other West Ham news, the club have made contact to sign a brand-new forward.
