Kia Joorabchian involved as West Ham United submit multi-million bid to sign Vitão

West Ham United have made a £6.8 million bid to sign Vitão from Internacional with Kia Joorabchian leading negotiations, according to Revista Colorada.

The Hammers are entering a transfer battle with Villarreal and Real Betis to sign the defender from the Serie A this summer.

The Hammers have bid £6.8m while Betis have tabled a higher bid of £8.5m with all offers already being rejected by the Brazilian side.

Gabriel Mejolaro has reported for the Brazilian outlet (5 June) that Iranian businessman Joorabchian is leading negotiations with West Ham for the 24-year-old.

He has experience in transfer talks from his time with Corinthians and “currently has a large circulation amongst Premier League teams”.

West Ham make move to sign Vitao

Tim Steidten’s Brazilian tour appears to be continuing with the defender who is the latest name from South America to be linked.

This began with Fabricio Bruno and Wesley Gassova but has now extended to see the Hammers interested in Luis Guilherme and now Vitao.

After a move for Bruno fell through at the final hurdle, it is clear that West Ham still have a centre back in their sights.

The Internacional defender is 24 years old and has the potential to grow into a first-team role in the Premier League if he moves.

Vitao could suit a Julen Lopetegui system with his ability on the ball which is undoubtedly his strongest asset which will suit English football.

He has experience of playing European football with Shakhtar Donetsk which will stand him in good stead ahead of a move to the Hammers.

The question remains whether Steidten will be able to force this move across the line or will this one also fall through.
