Kaveh Solhekol shares breaking West Ham transfer news as three players targeted for January

West Ham are already considering their options ahead of the winter transfer window, amid what has been a terrible start to the season.

It was a dismal first home game in charge for Nuno Espirito Santo on Monday, as West Ham lost 2-0 to Brentford.

The scoreline would suggest the Hammers were comprehensively beaten, but even that would be underselling just how far the gap between the teams was.

West Ham were slammed for their performance against Brentford, with some fans already – harshly – questioning Nuno’s ability to lead the Irons forward.

Nuno was hired by West Ham at the end of September, but the Portuguese coach has struggled significantly to fire up his new players.

West Ham set for activity in the transfer window

West Ham have been linked with a move for Endrick in the winter, with the young forward struggling for minutes at Real Madrid.

The Brazilian has impressed since his move to the Spanish giants, and could provide much-needed attacking danger for Nuno‘s side.

Niclas Fullkrug is expected to be missing for some time yet, after suffering a muscle injury while on international duty, and neither Callum Marshall nor Callum Wilson have proven their ability to lead the line for the Hammers.

But there are other areas of the pitch in need of improvement at the London Stadium, too, and Kaveh Solhekol has given a promising update on West Ham‘s winter plans.

Speaking to Sky Sports News on Tuesday, the journalist said: “My understanding is that West Ham are targeting at least one defender, one midfielder and one attacker when the window opens in January.”

West Ham have to act after what Nuno Espirito Santo said

Empty seats could be seen in their thousands around the London Stadium on Monday, perfectly encapsulating the stormy cloud that engulfs West Ham at the moment.

Speaking after the game, Nuno said: “I think we are all concerned. You can see our own fans are concerned. Concern becomes anxiety, becomes silence. We have a problem.

“It’s understandable. It’s up to us to change. The fans need to see something that pleases them and they can support us and give us energy.”

But the former Tottenham boss can only do so much with a group of players evidently not fit for competition in the Premier League.

Much of the negative focus surrounds David Sullivan, just as much as it does Nuno and the players, and the chairman must step up and back his club in the window, or risk losing it.
