Jim White claims there has been no bid for West Ham midfielder Declan Rice
Jim White claims West Ham are yet to receive any bid for midfielder Declan Rice so far this summer, and there have been no discussions over a transfer.
Speaking on talkSPORT [10:57, 21/07/21], the ex-Sky Sports host is adamant that the England enforcer has not been subject to any formal or informal talks.
He said: “I can tell you there has been no bid for Declan Rice so far, they don’t want one.
“There haven’t even been any conversations from other clubs regarding Declan Rice.”
Ex-West Ham star Trevor Sinclair responded: “That will be received really well from the fans.
“He has had an exceptional season, 22-years-old and he’s just had a superb Euros.”
Music to our ears
There have been numerous reports linking Rice with a move away this summer, just as there has been for the last few years.
Chelsea, Rice’s old club as a young academy player, have been consistently linked with a move for the Irons midfielder, while the likes of Manchester United have also been mentioned as being in the mix.
However, this summer always appeared to be a strange time to make a move elsewhere.
Rice will finally be able to play European football at the London Stadium after the club secured sixth spot in the Premier League last term to clinch a Europa League berth, so surely he at least wants to spend another season in east London.
Under David Moyes, the club seems to be on the up, and at such an early time in his career, there should be no rush for him to leave.
He’s already an established England international, and he can take his time to see where the Irons progress over the next year before making any firm decisions over his future.
